Religion
This year, 3 people will be involved with Religion at St. Pats Junior High. Mr. Charles Lawrence will conduct the day to day classes that cover the "Intellectual" elements of the Catholic Faith. The Religion course will include assessments and will be graded.
Fr. Gary Belliveau will direct the "Spiritual/Sacramental" elements including Masses, confessions, explaining the sights, sounds and smells of Lent, Easter, etc. Fr. Gary will also be available for a Demonstration Mass, answering theological questions and explaining specific Church teachings.
Mrs. Roxanne Wilton will be responsible for the "Service/Outreach" elements such as fasting for Lent, food drives, etc. She will also be coordinating the March for Life and other retreat opportunities.
The curriculum for the religion portion will consist of 6th grade studying the Hebrew Testament (Old) and our salvation history as it existed for thousands of years before Jesus. 7th grade will be studying the life and events of Jesus. This part of the story will show how God fulfilled salvation history through Jesus. The 8th grade will study our Christian life beginning with Pentecost and how salvation history is being lived out today. All grades will follow the Church year through Advent, Christmas, Lent, Easter and Pentecost. This will be done by reading the Sunday readings prior to the weekend so that they are prepared to listen and understand the Mass on the weekend.
